Annual Report 2009:
In 2009, swissnex Boston restarted in a new space with renewed energy and focus. We increased the diversity and volume of our activities, took on young and imaginative staff and interns, and collaborated with some of our most dedicated partners to predict and plan for the future.
No doubt returning to 420 Broadway—to an office space that had almost doubled in size—we were better equipped to manage our expanded partnerships and pursuits. A fresh outlook on our activities translated into experiments with social media, novel event formats and attention to the most pertinent future topics.
We built new alliances and fostered existing ones, especially in the fields of education and innovation. We reconnected with the local Swiss community, affording them a relaxing and yet technologically superior space in which to socialize and network. We organized more events and hosted more visiting delegations than ever before in our nine-year history, making inroads and solidifying our presence both in Boston and in Switzerland.
The commitment of our partners—from universities to organizations promoting research and innovation—was a source of support and ideas for events and contacts. The year ended with a successful swissnex day at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). swissnex directors and colleagues, stakeholders of the science community and alumni of all swissnex outposts all gathered for the first time to learn more about the limitless potential of collaboration.
