swissnex’s Deputy Consul Andreas Rufer presented an overview of the life of Frisch, who is regarded as one of the most famous contemporary Swiss playwright and novelist. Frisch is regarded as highly representative of German-language literature after World War II. Not many among the audience knew that Frisch studied architecture at the ETH Zurich and constructed a public swimming pool right in the middle of Zurich before he went into professional writing.

Prof. Kilcher gave a lecture on the Fear of Imagery versus Passionate Writing – The Poetics, Politics and Anthropology of Narration according to Max Frisch. Kilcher argued in his lecture, among other issues, whether images are freer than words. He analyzed some paragraphs from Frisch’s novels like I’m Stiller, Andorra, Gantenbein, and others. Many questions were answered by Prof. Kilcher during the reception that followed the official part of this literary and philosophical evening.

Small country, enormous potential. Switzerland once again demonstrates constant innovation – even in the world of startups. But which are the best emerging companies, the ones Switzerland is pinning its hopes on to spread Swiss innovation throughout the world? This question was posed to 100 sector experts. From their responses, the entrepreneurial promoter IFJ Institut für Jungunternehmen collaborated with the editorial offices of Journalistenbüro Niedermann GmbH to assemble a list that represents a snapshot of today’s TOP 100 startups in Switzerland.

Switzerland is experiencing a boom in people starting new companies. Each year, approximately 35,000 enterprises are launched in Switzerland, and this year a record number of startups is expected. This development didn’t happen by accident. Even from an international perspective, Switzerland ranks high on many lists as a competitive country and a leader in innovation. But which of these promising new companies will soon be causing a sensation around the world – or are already doing so?
