“être: The Face of Human Rights”
Monday night was a special night, as the Consulate hosted an opening gala for the unveiling of our new human rights exhibit at Massport, Terminal E. Over 250 invited guests dressed their best and gathered to celebrate with food, wine, music (jazzy, courtesy of the Berklee School of Music) and thought-provoking discussion of current world issues. The exhibit itself features 13 posters, each of which focuses on a photographic interpretation of a different human right. In front of each poster are postcards that further describe the right being displayed on one side, with room for feedback on the reverse. Consul General Christoph von Arb, Massport President Professor John Quelch, Massport CEO Thomas Kinton, Swiss Ambassador to the UN Geneva Blaise Godet, and Professor Walter Kälin were among those who spoke to inaugurate the exhibition. Graphic designer Lars Mueller, whose design concepts are featured in the posters, was also in attendance. The posters were unveiled to the attendees by international students from Boston-area universities. Each student offered their views on a poster in their own native language, giving the evening a truly global perspective. All guests were further invited to sign an extremely curious and unique life-sized cow guestbook. You gotta see it to believe it! Every guest ended the night with a little piece of Switzerland to take home, as goody bags full of Swiss chocolates, music, posters, and booklets were distributed. The exhibit will be in Terminal E from April 30th – June 30th, with guides and musicians present every afternoon to continue the intellectually festive atmosphere.
