Boston Study Week of the Executive MBA International Management, University of Applied Science Bern
After spending three days at Babson College, it was time for the twenty-six EMBA students to get a sense of the business community and the innovation economy of the Boston area.
swissnex Boston organized a two day program with presentations, company visits, workshops and interactive sessions.
During the first day, labelled as the "Market Entry day", the students who were representing Swiss SMEs and larger companies were introduced to the “challenges” Swiss companies face when they enter the US market. The range of topics (legal issues to buisness models) was as broad as the companies covered throughout the day. The participants had a few "live case studies", from the two people startup Plexim located at swissnex's CTI entrepreneurs' desk to the Novartis Global Research Center with 2000 employees in Cambridge.
The day ended with a cocktail reception at swissnex organized in partnership with the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce, where the EMBA participants had the chance to mingle and talk to executives and enterpreneurs living in the Boston area.
The second day of the program was dedicated to Innovation. The Cambridge Innovation Center provided the perfect location to discuss hot topics such as how to introduce social media into a company’s marketing strategy. The program ended with a workshop on innovation and design, hosted by IDEO, that saw the participants brainstorm the future of the airline industry and use their talents to convince their peers about their new business plans.
