Chat with the Consulate, July 21, 2009
On July 21, swissnex co-hosted an evening with Boston International (www.bostoninternational.org), a non-profit organization bringing young talent together with well established thinkers and leaders. The Swiss chocolate tasting with swissnex serves as part of Boston International's "Chat with the Consulate" series, aimed at informing and emphasizing cultural elements of nations with consulates in the Boston area. The evening kicked off with an informative presentation by swissnex, followed by a live demonstration from Swiss pastry and chocolate chef Jorg Amsler (www.trulyjorgs.com). Instead of chocolate, Amsler opted for a dynamic alternative: a watermelon carving. A seemingly complex and elegant floral carving was made simple, easy to replicate at home for a delightful dessert or centerpiece. After the entertaining carving demonstration, Amsler shared an assortment of his specialty chocolates and pastries for everyone to try. Also served, in true Swiss culinary fashion, was a selection of delicious Swiss breads, meats and cheeses.
The evening was, in all, a wonderful blend of culture, information and, of course, high spirits.
