European Entrepreneurship and Innovation Workshop
European Entrepreneurship and Innovation Workshop
Taking place on January 29 at MIT’s Stata Center, the event was organized by the EU Commission, French Consulate, German Consulate and MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI). The workshop assembled entrepreneurship experts from both sides of the Atlantic to analyze and unearth opportunities for technology-driven start-ups. Speakers included Richard Woodham of Intrasoft International representing the EU-US match network, and Charles W. Wessner, Director of Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the National Academies.
To round up the program, Bettina Hein and Jost Allmeling evoked the experiences of their own start-ups both in Europe and the USA. Both entrepreneurs got their start through Switzerland’s innovation promotion agency (CTI), with which swissnex Boston collaborates closely. Part of the swissnex-CTI engagement is to offer a “mini incubator” to Swiss start-ups—like Allmeling’s software company Plexim, located in the swissnex Boston building—to launch their US businesses.
