Former venture leader connects with fellow ETHZ Alumni
In true swissnex fashion, a 2003 venture leader returned to connect the dots with other ETHZ Alumni on April 12, 2011.
Prof. Wendelin Stark spoke about “Opportunities and Challenges in Commercializing University Science: Experiences from Switzerland and the US” in the “pit” at swissnex Boston. In describing the start-up process, Prof. Stark delved into the details of team recruiting, product licensing and risk management. Using his experience as a cross-continental innovator, entrepreneur and scholar, he engaged the audience for well over an hour, providing much fodder for questions and discussion afterwards. Indeed, Prof. Stark carries a wealth of experience and expertise with him. He has studied at both ETHZ and UC Berkeley, and is now on sabbatical at MIT. He also boasts 120 publications and 20 patents. As a former venture leader, he was able to hone his business skills early on, allowing him to found three companies.
As we continue our engagement with ETHZ, swissnex Boston welcomed the chance to assemble the ETHZ New England Alumni for yet another event and looks forward to the next!
