Former Venture Leader returns to connect the dots
Dec 08, 2010 05:02 PM
Building enduring bonds is inherent in “connecting the dots.” To promote young talents, swissnex Boston not only seeks them out but also fosters relationships with them as they develop, helping where we can while expanding our network of Swiss innovators.
We were therefore excited to see one of the Venture Leaders 2010, Jan Lichtenberg, return to the US this fall. With the assistance of swissnex Boston, Jan Lichtenberg organized a workshop to promote the ground-breaking technology behind organotypic, biological 3D microtissues---the product supplied by his company, InSphero AG.
InSphero’s pioneering 3D microtissues were developed for efficacy testing and toxicology of new compounds in drug development. For the first time, organotypic microtissues can be implemented as a replacement for conventional, artificial monolayer cultures while maintaining the same instruments, processes and assays.
InSphero’s unique technology has been such a success that, in September, it secured 1.8 million CHF in a Series A financing led by Redalpine Venture Partners.
The same workshop took place at swissnex San Francisco as well, in order to broaden the network of potential customers and to build even more valuable relationships.
