From Open Innovation to Innovation Partnerships – A New Paradigm in a Troubled Economy, April 30 and May 1
On April 30 and May 1 swissnex Boston hosted an event on innovation and on innovation and sustainability co organized by representatives from Nestlé and MIT Sloan. The conference brought together large corporate, entrepreneurs, venture capitals, startups, academics, business leaders, consultants and students involved in innovation management. The conference included facilitated themed sessions, workshops and discussion panels as well as networking opportunities. Speakers came from MIT Sloan, Nestlé, Continuum, Novartis, Holcim Group and Hedstrom Associates. Its main objective was to discuss methods, practices and innovation for coping with troubled economy and the new paradigms required to build new business models based on open innovation.
Concluding remarks and questions:
- Tipping point: have we reached the tipping point in innovation? Is it only a buzzword or is it leading the way for all companies?
Same for sustainability: are we entering into a transformational period? - Timing: is it time for leadership to step up? Has the golden age passed or can it reemerge after the crisis?
- Formula for success: tech push + consumer pull?
- Systemic approach: both innovation and sustainability require major adaptations in:
- Internal systems within companies
- External systems (role of government, policies)
