Geneva Fête de l’Escalade: Night road running and “marmite” smashing in Lexington!
"Ainsi périssent les ennemis de la République! “. While reciting those verses, the participants in the Fete de l’Escalade in Lexington smashed a Chocolate Marmite, the traditional way of celebrating the victory of the City-State of Geneva over the troops of the Duke of Savoy in 1602.
Before enjoying chocolate, mulled wine and singing the ancestral hymn of Geneva, a bunch of Alumni of the University of Geneva and friends of Geneva braved the cold and the darkness for a short road run around the Swiss Residence in Lexington -honoring another traditional element of the celebrations of the Escalade in the streets of Geneva.
The University of Geneva launched an online platform for its alumni world-wide. All the formers students are invited to create their own profile with a few clicks.
