Global Health Student Forum tackles high-level talks
As part of a worldwide network, swissnex Boston knows that tackling global issues necessitates more than just field expertise. Hence our multi-disciplinary approach to today’s most pressing problems, including that of global health. On March 14, 2011, we welcomed the Global Health Student Forum of the Harvard School of Public Health for an in-house workshop. But the itinerary didn’t entail lectures on health problems, nor was it led by a medical practitioner. Rather, a world expert in negotiations between multilateral institutions got participants discussing the dynamics and dilemmas of high-level talks. |  |
As part of the 2011 Harvard Aid Health Simulation Negotiation series, which works across artificial barriers created between disciplines and universities, MIT Prof. Lawrence Susskind trained participants on the skills required for high-level negotiations: the ways aid funding is discussed, delivered and prioritized at the country level.
The workshop was as novel as its audience was diverse: Harvard’s School of Public Health, Kennedy School, Law School, Business School, Graduate School of Arts and Science and Harvard College, as well as Boston University, MIT and Tufts’ Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
With such a high caliber of participants on such a critical topic, swissnex Boston looks forward to our continued involvement in global health.
