Global Perspectives on Higher Education
Global Perspectives on Higher Education
Established over a decade ago at Virginia Tech, the Global Perspectives Program (GPP) facilitates the exchange of insights and daily life experiences by students and staff from Basel University and the US.
Branching out to Boston, a group of seven Swiss PhDs with various backgrounds was ready to explore THE education hotspot in the US!
Starting with a visit at Northeastern University, the group met with Urs Gasser, Director Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. Fascinated by the interdisciplinary of the Center, the group had the pleasure to meet Lead Fellow Sandra Cortesi, a University of Basel Alum, to learn more about the Youth and Media initiative. Later that day, Raisa Belyavina, Senior Researcher Officer at the Institute of International Educators welcomed our guests at swissnex to present the latest trends in global higher education. Last stop of the day: John Harvard’s Brew House, where academia meets entrepreneurship. The Venture Leaders shared their passionate stories on how to become an entrepreneur out of a university lab.
Before heading to Washington DC, the group visited some labs at MIT, after gathering for an informal breakfast at swissnex, where they had the chance to meet with fellow Young Talents: Swiss PhDs and PostDocs based in Boston.
We are looking forward to seeing their faces again at swissnex, knowing that many academic careers will pass through Boston.
