Samichlaus treats Fletcher students

Dec 09, 2010 09:57 AM

They must have been good this year—extremely good!

The holidays had only just begun when jolly old St. Nick (aka swissnex Boston) journeyed to Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy to reward its students for their hard work throughout the year.

On December 6, 2010, more than 50 students broke away from the books to dig deep into St Nick’s bag of goodies. They were treated to typical Swiss Samichlaus treats such as Grittibaenz, Laekerli, gingerbread cookies and chocolate.

While learning about the Swiss Samichlaus tradition, swissnex Boston also treated students to a breakdown of study-abroad opportunities in Switzerland.

Samichlaus recommends some interesting short-term options, such as the Think Swiss Research Scholarship or the St.Gallen Wings of Excellence Award?

On hand was Prof. Bernhard Ehrenzeller, Vice President of the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, currently on sabbatical at the Fletcher School, to give an overview of study and research opportunities at his alma mater.

Despite focusing on the MALD/MIA Dual Degree Program between the Fletcher School and University of St. Gallen, Prof. Ehrenzeller encouraged students to explore St. Gallen’s exceptional doctoral programs and executive education to enhance their education.

Meanwhile Samichlaus, before riding off into the night, reminded the students that, if they were good (i.e. if they took up the chance to study in Switzerland), he may very well stop by again next year!
