Report 5/14:
We had a great day at the exhibition today--the last day, unfortunately!
A steady stream of people stopped by, both to stroll amongst the posters and to appreciate Will's beautiful piano medleys. Lots of feedback postcards were filled out, many with extensive and thoughtful comments.
Several people were there to pick up their college-aged sons and daughters coming home from study abroad programs; a few were even returning from Switzerland! These families were all extremely eager to find out more information about both the exhibit, and to pick up our pamphlets about Swiss universities.
There were consistently people who stopped to talk to me more in-depth about both the exhibit and about my life as a student. Some of them included Professor Joseph Liu from Brown University, who coincidentally is from the same original hometown as I am in China! He teaches courses in fluid mechanics, and was very appreciative of the science and engineering emphasis of the posters. He left me contact information, and told us to stay in touch. Marty Quinn from Design Rhythmics also stopped by--he is an innovative computer-scientist turned artist who creates music out of pixels and data (his website is drsrl.com--lots more information!), often geared towards helping blind people visualize and appreciate art through auditory signals. He mentioned that he would be interested in doing some sort of professional collaboration with the Consulate in the future, and also invited me to his creative exhibition over the weekend--very kind.
All in all, it was a great day--a superb collection of people with fascinating backgrounds wandered through, and there was tremendous interest in the exhibit. Thank you once again for allowing me this terrific opportunity, and I hope to see everyone at Swissnex again soon!
