SHARE hosted a discussion with Heiner Baumann of New Profit and Matt Herren of EduVision. The presentation of Heiner centered on new approaches to investing and managing philanthropic projects. Borrowing methods from the most successful businesses, New Profit aims to help social entrepreneurs build projects with a high impact and strong sustainability.
Matt then presented the EduVision project, a new initiative to offer access to textbooks via satellite connections for school kids in Kenya. Matt's dedication to social entrepreneurship and his technology approach was recognized by the MIT Technology Review that gave him a Young Innovator Award.
The discussion then continued on the best ways to scale up successful projects and the need for more grassroot entrepreneurship.
