The Entrepreneurial Mindset – A transatlantic dialogue between two faculties
The Entrepreneurial Mindset – A transatlantic dialogue between two faculties
As a university with a strategic focus on practice and market-oriented education, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) is convinced that their students not only need to acquire excellent professional skills, but also need to develop an entrepreneurial mindset to be able to cope with today’s competitive landscape. In this context, swissnex helped organize a faculty and administrators meeting between ZHAW and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) to exchange ideas on how to further integrate the concept of this entrepreneurial mindset in engineering, life sciences and management curricula.
In addition to the meetings at WPI, swissnex Boston organized a visiting program. Starting with a MIT Campus tour, the Swiss group met with Jose Estabil to talk about the International Innovation Initiative With Peter Dourmashkin at the Department of Physics the group gathered insights in educational trends in the field of physics. Later that day, they visited Cambridge Innovation Center where they met three Swiss MIT and Harvard researchers. Olivier Boss from Energesis Pharmaceuticals welcomed our guests in the early afternoon at Dog Patch Lab, a tech incubator for entrepreneurs. Oliver presented his latest company progress as well as the business plan of a biotech company.
Their last stop was at swissnex Boston where academia met entrepreneurship. The Venture Leaders shared their passionate stories on how to become an entrepreneur out of a university lab with our ZHAW delegation.
