The final showdown: Global Pitchfest 2011

Jun 20, 2011 01:09 PM

As the grand finale of their ten days of activities, the Swiss venture leaders encountered their ultimate challenge: the Global Pitchfest. As their showdown the 20 Swiss entrepreneurs faced 20 US startups from the new “batch” that will soon move into the Masschallenge office space. MassChallenge, a non-profit organization that connects early stage entrepreneurs to the resources they need to launch high-growth, high-impact businesses immediately, were the hosts and partners for the evening celebration. Following creative introductions to the Venture Leader Program via video clips, each of the Swiss and American entrepreneurs had one minute and one slide to pitch their business idea. The Swiss entrepreneurs demonstrated they developed the skills and knowledge needed to break into new markets, chart the volatile global economy and brand themselves as the top tier of Swiss innovators. At the same time the American team fought hard to win over the audience and thereby their chance to win two tickets to Switzerland. The 300 visitors enjoyed the battle. Paying close attention to their favorites, the guests casted their votes. We congratulate the winners: Arjun Gupta from PK Clean, who has developed a patented process to transform plastic waste into fuel oil and Dominik Lysek from Credentis who is developing a regenerative gel to avoid drilling for cavities. We also thank Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. for their kind sponsorship.
