Using the Internet to Create a New Labor Movement

Jul 31, 2008 11:52 AM

Lunchtime Lecture by Professor Richard Freeman, Harvard Law School, Monday, May 14, 2007.

This talk described how unions and other worker organizations use the Internet to provide some services, even in the face of employer opposition to traditional unionism. WorkingAmerica quietly enlisted about 1.6 million members to greedyassociates.com which pressured law firms to raise pay by informing law graduates about economic differences. The Internet can create a new labor movement, better suited to the modern work force.
