Voluntariat experience

Dec 04, 2009 02:10 PM

When I first arrived to Boston four months ago, I did not know what to expect and was curious to find out what swissnex is all about. During my four months as a volunteer I assisted the project managers in charge of education as well as technology and innovation with various projects. I was given the liberty to create my own projects and be in charge throughout the entire project cycle, which increased the intensity of this professional experience tremendously. The work in a small team with diverse backgrounds is intense and, due to the multifacted opportunities I had during this internship, every day proved to bring new challenges. The Boston area is an incredibly enriching environment and you get used to meeting fascinating people on a daily basis. The opportunities here in the heart of innovation, creativity and knowledge transfer are plentiful and there are dozens of lectures, workshops and events every day that one can attend. The concentration of skilled young talents is unique and creates a fascinating environment to work in. Among the many projects I was involved with, I particularly enjoyed organizing a discussion with Syngenta that gathered over 30 students as well a breakfast presentation on the Climate summit in Copenhagen. After these intense months, I realized what swissnex represents for me personally: hospitality, creativity, innovation, unconventionality and diversity. - Caroline Freigang
