Working with Credit Suisse means more than “just” banking
swissnex Boston has known this for many years! Our longstanding partnership with Credit Suisse (CS) in IT support is not only extremely generous but also a “lifesaver” in our daily operation. For a turn of six months, CS sends one of their most promising IT team members to Boston (and recently to San Francisco as well) to engage in swissnex activities.
We know firsthand of the outstanding expertise of their large-scale and cutting-edge IT system. But, as CS has learned, IT is “Not about Technology Anymore.” Rather, it is about Enterprise Architecture to reduce costly IT “complexity.”
This point was made by Eric Newcomer, Chief Architect at CS’s Investment Banking Division. As part of swissnex Boston’s MIT European Career Fair activities, young talents learned about the shifting face of IT at a seminar on January 21. As one MIT PhD student in Computer Science noted, there was “great insight into the software architecture of Credit Suisse, with lots of initiatives on how this can evolve.”
Indeed, participants were informed on the skills needed to progress with such changes. These were based on the experiences of one of the world’s largest banks that one MBA student from Hult International Business School found appropriate to his goals: “They had very frank inputs for students, and this would help us to get better opportunities in their company.” Mr. Newcomer, himself, was thrilled with the response: “I was glad to have the chance to talk about the challenges we have and try to get some people interested in coming to join us to work on these things. That went very well,” he said.
