World Economic Forum Debriefing, February 5
World Economic Forum Debriefing, February 5
With a continuing economic crisis and a fast changing global environment, this year’s edition of the World Economic Forum had promised to be a unique opportunity to elaborate collaborative solutions among the 2,000 stakeholders taking part in the meeting. swissnex Boston had the pleasure to host "Davos 2009: Perspectives on the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum". Boston area participants to this Forum in Switzerland shared their impressions of the principal outcomes and trends they observe at the meeting. From new models of innovation to the impact of technology on society, to the latest in international business and geo-political currents, it was a free-wheeling opportunity to hear from the experts and put own questions to them as well.

Paul Smyke, Senior Advisor to the Chairman of the World Economic Forum and a long-time friend of the Consulate, led the spectacular “fire side chat” of our guests Jonathan Zittrain, professor of Internet law at Harvard Law School and a faculty co-director of Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet & Society, and Peter Galison, Joseph Pellegrino University Professor at the Department of the History of Science at Harvard University and Director of the Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments. The various Davos posters donated by the International Poster Gallery Boston for this evening added some more Swiss flavor.

After an entertaining and thought-provoking discussion and many interesting questions from the audience, the participants continued debating the tackled topics while enjoying the recently reopened collaborative space at swissnex Boston together with delicious food and drinks. Or to quote one of our guests: “The panel was impressive, the questions provocative and the snacks scrumptious!”
We are all looking forward to the WEF Debriefing 2010.
