ERC Grants
ERC Grants The European Research Council (ERC) is a newly-created European funding initiative, designed to support the best scientists, engineers and scholars in Europe. Two types of Grants are available:
1. ERC Advanced Investigator Grant
This grant targets at established top research leaders. It may last up to five years and provides a total of up to € 3.5 million. The first call is now open, with 3 deadlines from 28 February to 22 April. It is planned to launch a call in the autumn of every year.
2. ERC Starting Independent Researcher Grant
This grant is designed to support outstanding researchers at the stage at which they are starting or consolidating their own research team. The level of the grant is between €100,000 and €400,000 per year for a period of up to 5 years. In the summer of every year a call will be launched.
Both grants are open to scientists in basic research of all disciplines. There are no pre-defined research topics (bottom-up principle). The only evaluation criterion is excellence. The principal investigator can be of any nationality or current location, but must apply in conjunction with a host institution in an EU Member State or associated country (such as Switzerland).
These grants offer an excellent opportunity for Swiss scientists working abroad to continue their research in Switzerland. Interested? Find more information here:
