KNIME is back in Boston! And they’re throwing an event here at swissnex to spread the good word about their incredible technology.
The evening will feature two Wheaton College professors: Dr. Paul Prewitt-Freilino, Director of Institutional Research, and Nathan Rush, Research Analyst. They will demonstrate how KNIME technology can facilitate and advance institutional research.
Additionally, Tobias Kötter, Senior Data Scientist at KNIME, will be give a talk on how he uses big data, Hadoop and Spark within KNIME.

Bios:
Dr Paul Prewitt-Freilino works with faculty and staff at Wheaton College to identify opportunities to enhance and grow academic programs and support student retention and success. He has many years of experience establishing institutional research offices at colleges and holds a Ph.D in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Oklahoma. His research has focused on statistical models to predict enrollment and persistence and navigating the organizational challenges facing small colleges commited to liberal arts education.
Nathan Rush is a Research Analyst at the Office of Institutional Research, Wheaton College where he is responsible for designing and coordinating a variety of descriptive reports related to enrollment and retention. He is also an active member of the Association for Institutional Research (AIR), North East AIR and Boston AIR and presents at meetings of all three organizations.
Dr Tobias Kötter is a Senior Data Scientist at KNIME.com in Berlin. His research interests include large scale data integration and mining, graph mining, text mining and creativity support systems. At KNIME he is the scientist to talk to on the topic of using KNIME with Big Data and integrating Hadoop and Spark. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Konstanz.
