MassChallenge launches in Canton de Vaud

We cordially invite you to participate in an Innovation Evening at swissnex Boston, the Science Consulate of Switzerland.

On Thursday, June 23, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the recently-launched MassChallenge Switzerland program, and how it is impacting Switzerland and its neighboring countries by catalyzing innovation. Roman Kern, Senior Director of Programs and Operations at MassChallenge, will give a presentation.

An economic delegation of the Canton of Vaud will be in attendance to celebrate the opening of the accelerator program, which will welcome its first class of startups on June 20!

MassChallenge Switzerland will be located in Renens, close to Lausanne, the capital and largest city of Vaud, and home to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), the Hotel School of Lausanne (EHL), and the Swiss Cancer Center. A European center for innovation, the global headquarters of more than 60 international companies are based in Vaud, including Nestlé, Medtronic, Shire, and Philip Morris International.

About the Speaker

Roman Kern is Senior Director of Programs and Operations at MassChallenge. He is a community builder and passionate about startups – and in his current role he has the opportunity to pursue both. Roman is responsible for overseeing major areas of the Boston Program, which include the curriculum, mentorship, judging, and all operational aspects of the office. His goal is to empower the team to produce outstanding results, and – in strong collaboration with the community that surrounds us – help entrepreneurs reach the next level. Roman is dedicated to fostering global entrepreneurship by supporting international knowledge exchange and engaging Boston-based international programs. He is the heartbeat of the core IT infrastructure for all MassChallenge programs worldwide, evaluating, designing, and implementing systems the organization uses to stay online.

Roman hails from the beautiful city of Zurich, Switzerland, nestled in the heart of the Alps. He holds a Master of Arts in Political Science with a focus on Security Studies, Communication and Sociology from the University of Zurich and ETH Zürich. Prior to MassChallenge, Roman successfully launched a startup in the IT consulting industry. He worked for the Swiss Federal Department of Justice and Police, and dedicated months to online and advocacy building, both in Switzerland and in the U.S. He is a board member of the UZH New England Alumni Chapter and the Vice-President of the Swiss Society of Boston.
