Karim Patwa’s film Driften, (“The Drift” in English, was released earlier this year to great acclaim. It is winner of the 2015 Saarbrücken Award at the Max Ophüls Film Festival, and lead actress Sabine Timoteo won the Best Actress at the Swiss Film Awards in Geneva for her performance as Alice Keller.

In the film, Robert (Max Hubacher), a former driver in illegal races, returns to his hometown Dietikon after a long period of absence. He is determined to put his past behind him and starts an apprenticeship in a repair shop. When he meets teacher Alice (Sabine Timoteo), his life starts to unravel – they are connected by the strong bond of a dark past. He follows her every move and spies on her. In order to get closer to her, he pretends to be someone else and takes an English class with her. But for how long can he hide his true identity?
