Belmont World Film (BWF), a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation, promotes cross-cultural understanding through film screenings accompanied by discussions led by expert speakers, cultural performances, and ethnic cuisine. BWF began with the premise that foreign-language film is not only a vehicle for hearing another language in action, but it can also foster an emotional understanding of other cultures. BWF presents several weekend-long Family Film Festivals, an annual international film series in the spring, and other special events throughout the year.

The BWF simultaneously kicks off the new year and the new festival season by presenting two films based on the most famous Swiss children books: Heidi and the Little Mountain Boy (Schellen Ursli).
