Academic Mandates and Partners
|Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL)
swissnex Boston showcases EPFL flagship research programs from Lausanne through events and regular faculty visits to Boston and supports the recruiting activities of the school in the region. More specifically, swissnex has launched several initiatives to communicate about EPFL in Boston. We are also a partner of the newly-founded, local EPFL alumni chapter A3 US East coast branch.
|Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH)
As one of the top ranked engineering schools in Europe, ETH Zurich has developed several collaborations in the Boston area. We are proud to enhance the activities of ETH in Boston by welcoming visiting professors and graduate students for lectures about their breakthrough research. swissnex also hosts faculty and staff for sabbaticals in the Boston area. In addition, swissnex Boston is the founding partner of the ETH Alumni Association New England.
|University of Zurich (UZH)
swissnex Boston officially holds the mandate to represent the interests of the University of Zurich in the Boston area. To this end, we promote UZH at local education fairs and connect the UZH alumni base in New England. This mandate is also operated through an intern from the University of Zurich based at swissnex Boston.
|HEC Lausanne - The School of Business and Economics of the University of Lausanne
HEC Lausanne provides two interns per year to swissnex Boston. During their stay in Boston, the HEC interns completed their master thesis on a topic closely related to swissnex Boston’s activities, such as entrepreneurship or information management. They also work on the business development of HEC Lausanne in the US.
|Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW)
swissnex Boston supports ZHAW internationalization in the Boston area. swissnex was the facilitator of the academic collaboration signed with Worcester Polytechnic Institute. We also organized customized visiting programs for the ZHAW faculty in Massachusetts such as the initiative Women in Leadership.
|School of Management Fribourg
swissnex Boston supports the School of Management Fribourg in its efforts to internationalize by providing the school a platform to increase its visibility in New England, connecting the school with local universities and institutions, inform the school about trends in higher education and research, and foster collaborations with MassChallenge.
|University of Geneva
swissnex Boston and the University of Geneva signed a service agreement to raise the visibility of the University of Geneva on the east coast of the United States. swissnex Boston was highly active in organizing delegation visits and events for the University of Geneva. The PlanetSolarDeepWater Project, one of swissnex Boston’s major events of the year 2013, was in collaboration with the University of Geneva and echoed an enormous response through the media.
|University of Basel
swissnex Boston and the University of Basel agreed on a mandate that will support to organize visits by delegations in Boston, support and advise for their students and researchers but will also facilitate contacts to research institutions and the private industry. For 2015, swissnex Boston and the University of Basel agreed to collaborate for the participation at the yearly Cambridge Science Festival, one of the biggest science-related events in the Greater Boston Area.
|Canton of Vaud
swissnex Boston assists the Canton of Vaud and its collaborators in their mission to promote their higher education institutions on the east coast of the United States and Canada. Moreover, swissnex Boston will be involved in the delegation visits for the Canton of Vaud when they visit the area. swissnex Boston hosts groups from the HESAV on a regular basis during their time spent at their local partner institutions.
| FHNW Academy of Art and Design Basel
swissnex Boston and the FHNW Academy of Art and Design Basel have signed a collaboration agreement to support two initiatives - European Center of Art, Design and Media based Research (ECAM) and Swiss Cultural Entrepreneurship (SCE) - and their efforts to promote visibility and create a sustainable connection on the East Coast of the United States.
As part of the agreement between the Academy and swissnex Boston, a Junior Project Manager has been appointed to directly represent the FHNW Academy of Art and Design Basel, ECAM, and SCE’s interest through the platform offered by swissnex Boston. During the stay in Boston, the Junior Project Manager dedicates 50% of the work to promote the Academy and its initiatives in the United States, whereas the other 50% of the time is dedicated to assisting swissnex Boston in its Art/Science programs.
